Celebrating BAME Women in Creativity and STEM at the University of Lincoln: A Powerful Panel Discussion
Share
At My Trove Jewels, we are always committed to celebrating diversity, empowerment, and the importance of human connection. This year, we had the honor of participating in the Her Seat at the Table conference hosted by the BAME Women Network (BWN) at the University of Lincoln. The event marked an incredible milestone as the first-ever conference designed to amplify the voices and experiences of BAME (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic) women across various industries.
Our Founders’ Powerful Panels: Creatives and STEM
Kiara Rao and Amber Shipman, the founders of My Trove Jewels, were invited to speak on the Creatives Panel, where they shared their journeys as BAME women in the entrepreneurial space. In addition, Kiara also joined the STEM Panel, delving into her background in engineering and discussing the intersection of technology, creativity, and entrepreneurship. Their stories were met with incredible energy and honesty, inspiring attendees with insights on overcoming challenges and pursuing their passions in both creative and technical fields.
Building a Brand Rooted in Community and Creative Expression
At My Trove Jewels, we believe in creating genuine human connections. The event was a true reflection of this core value. It was a day full of powerful conversations, stories of resilience, and authentic exchanges of ideas. The experience reminded us of the transformative power of creating spaces where women can come together to uplift, empower, and celebrate one another.
Kiara and Amber emphasized the importance of community in business and personal growth. The panel discussions were not just about business or success but about building a brand that connects with people on a deeper level. They shared their experiences of founding My Trove Jewels, a brand centered on wellness, creativity, and self-expression, and how their journey has been shaped by their values of empowerment and inclusivity.
Empowering BAME Women in STEM and Creative Industries
The Her Seat at the Table conference was not just a celebration of the women who spoke but also a testament to the importance of representation in industries like STEM and creative fields. By discussing topics like breaking barriers in STEM, staying ahead in fast-paced industries, and the importance of diversity in leadership, the panels helped to shine a spotlight on the unique experiences of BAME women.
The discussions underscored how BAME women are continuously shaping the future of both creative and technical industries, and why their voices need to be heard. Kiara’s participation in both panels highlighted the intersectionality between engineering, entrepreneurship, and creativity, offering a fresh perspective on the synergy between these fields.
The Power of Community and Connection
What made this event truly special was the sense of unity and strength in the room. It was clear that when BAME women come together, powerful things happen. The event allowed for bold conversations about overcoming systemic barriers, advancing in male-dominated industries, and embracing authenticity in everything we do.
We are deeply grateful to the BAME Women Network for creating such an empowering and inclusive space. The network’s ability to bring together a diverse group of women to celebrate one another is truly something to be admired. It was a day to reflect, connect, and celebrate empowerment — not just for BAME women but for all women striving to make a difference in their respective fields.
