Celebrating BAME Women in Creativity and STEM at the University of Lincoln: A Powerful Panel Discussion

My Trove Jewels founder and creative lead Kiara Rao joined the BAME Women Network’s Her Seat at the Table conference at the University of Lincoln for conversations spanning creativity, engineering and entrepreneurship.

Kiara joined both the Creatives and STEM panels, drawing on her experience of building My Trove Jewels alongside her engineering background. The conversations explored how technical and creative thinking can strengthen one another, and why founders should not have to flatten themselves into a single professional identity.

Why representation matters

The conference created space for Black, Asian and minority ethnic women to speak honestly about building careers, leading projects and moving through industries where representation is still uneven. Hearing a range of routes into creative and technical work made the discussion practical as well as encouraging.

A room built for connection

For TROVE, speaking is an extension of the studio’s wider purpose. The object or activity may begin the conversation, but connection is the point. Panels like these carry that idea beyond an event station and into the way people imagine their own next step.
